Riley Blake -Fabric Fest-

image

Fabric Fest Vender Hall was open to public on the 3rd day of their schedule at South Point Casino. I got there right after the door opened.

Registration desk had handmade fabric  banner to welcome all the participants.

There are two large ballrooms filled with sewing machines on tables. Many ladies were taking classes. As they listen to the lecture, they were having hands on experiences using kits.

Clover had largest vender space against the wall. Well organized, well guided vender. Everything they had on display were offered for cash and carry purchase (including credit cards) plus 25% off on all items.

One of the sales person was nice enough to show me the latest catalog of theirs. I brought up the question to the gentleman that I’ve been holding and he answered that the specific crochet hook that I’m looking for is unfortunately discontinued. It’s a simple silver lace hook which has no fancy handle. I really liked the price and the smoothness of it! The new line is nicely color coded but price went double… Now you know why I’ve been looking for the original one. Anyhow, they focused on quilting and sewing items on this show so there was no hooks available. It would have been so nice to get 25% off and purchase directly from Clover. Oh well.

Most fabrics on bolt had $10.40/yd price tag.

image

Items I’ve been keeping my eyes on it were found at one section!

image

I’ve seen the top one in this picture but never knew there were other color ways available on this specific fabric. Still the one with yellow is my favourite though!

image

The most affordable and friendly priced 10″ layer cake I’ve ever found. This might be wholesale price. I’m just guessing but it could be, right?

image

Handmade iron board was offered for $12.95. The thickness is about 3/4″ plus layer of batting on the front side.

image

I really liked this framed art.
“A clean house is a sign of a broken sewing machine”. Exactly.

image

Retro phone design on this fabric caught my attention. I didn’t purchase anything because the quality of fabric itself didn’t meet my standard. If this Retro, vintage chic design was printed on thicker, higher quality and heavier weight cotton, I would have bought a lot and took some home with me.

$1.30/yd tapes and ribbons were also offered.

I made no purchase. Looked around for a little over 30 minutes and left the hall.

Doilie Pattern Hunt : September Issue

Purchasing books, downloading free patterns online, sharing patterns with friends, designing my own pattern etc etc.

I’ve been hunting crochet & doilie patterns for a while now.

image

Small coaster size doilies used to be my favourite ones but the phase I’m in right now draws much more attention to bigger, detail oriented and large pineapple doilies.

image

I came across with few decent websites that I can be happy about their contents and their free pattern selections. i definitely book marked them. More over, i printed out almost all the patterns available on each sites! Some are refurbished vintage crochet/doilie books thats shared as free vintage patterns. Its been so long after the publishing date, seems like royality has been expired already. Those gems are hard to find even at second hand store these days.

image

Now, I know for sure those patterns I found will keep me busy for a while. Plus some of the unique designs I found will make great holiday gifts!
